"Mad Dog"

. . . a good ol' lute piece, transcribed into ASCII tablature by Leonard Williams, with an assist by me, January 2004.

Happy New Year, early music folk!

It turns out that "Mad Dog" is really a galliard by Anthony Holborne found in the 2nd Matthew Holmes Lute Book. That's not the actual title given in the book; it's what Hopkinson Smith has called it in his concert programs (for instance, in Helsinki, November 19 2003.) The lute folk have tried to figure out where the name came from, but, as Arto Wikla writes:

> the naming this piece to "Mad Dog" seems still to be a secret of Hoppie!
